Getting started

A practical walk-through for admins and teachers launching Growing Standard. Expect ~90 minutes of setup over the first two weeks.

1

Provision accounts (5 min)

District admin

After your contract is signed, we create your district record and send your admin invite. From the admin dashboard you'll:

  • Connect Clever or ClassLink (or upload a CSV roster)
  • Choose your state framework (11 options)
  • Invite building admins and department leads

Roster sync pulls teachers, students, classes, and grade levels. You can force a resync anytime from the class settings.

2

Onboarding webinar (60 min, included)

All teachers

Every new School and District license includes a one-time 60-minute onboarding Zoom for your team. We schedule it at your convenience (typically after 4pm ET or during school breaks). The session covers:

  • Student experience: assessment, practice, and rewards
  • Teacher dashboard: class progress, per-question analysis, mastery checklist
  • Creating standards-aligned assignments
  • Running Class Games and weekly challenges
  • Reading assessment windows and MTSS workflow

Teachers who join later can work through this written guide at their own pace.

3

Take the Grow (30 min / class)

Teachers + students

Each student takes the Grow at the start of the year — one for math, one for reading. Students pick their grade, then the adaptive engine places them at their instructional level within that grade band.

  • Runs in ~20–25 minutes
  • Can be paused and resumed mid-test
  • Results populate dashboards immediately
  • Re-opens automatically in Winter and Spring windows
4

Assign standards (10 min / week)

Teachers

Open Class → Assign from the teacher dashboard. Search by state standard code, domain, or keyword; select skills, set a due date, and push to the class or to specific students.

  • Assignment progress updates in real time
  • Students see a red dot on the notebook tab when new work is assigned
  • Auto-differentiate: one click to challenge strong students with advanced skills or remediate struggling students with foundational ones
5

Review data (weekly, ~15 min)

Teachers + admins

The Math Data and Reading buttons open teacher dashboards:

  • Practice tab: class progress, alerts when students ace practice but struggle on tests, focus groupings
  • Test Results: per-question analysis, discrimination flags
  • Mastery: see exactly which standards each student has mastered
  • Growth: longitudinal trendlines, subject toggle
  • Assign: auto-suggest assignments for struggling groups

All dashboards export to CSV; student reports export to PDF.

6

MTSS workflow (as needed)

Interventionists + admins

Class → MTSS Tracking lets you group students by support level (Tier 1/2/3), log interventions (start, progress, discontinue), and apply decision rules (fade / intensify / continue). Data is Firestore-backed at the classroom level — counselors and admins with classroom access see it automatically.

Teacher tips for first month

  • Do the Grow in class, not as homework, so students take it seriously
  • Run one Class Game in week 2 — it builds engagement fast
  • Check the Recommendations chip in Class Progress weekly for focus groupings
  • Send home a parent note — students usually want to show parents their potato
  • Don't assign more than 3 skills per week early on; let voluntary practice happen
